Alright, enough designing and building, let’s talk about the really exciting stuff: spreadsheets. Over six years of dreaming about a van, I’ve made a lot of spreadsheets about it. Most of them now live in the dark corners of my Google Drive where I will never look at them again, but some are quite useful.
For example, yesterday, I turned a stack of receipts into an itemized list of things I’ve bought for this van. Hopefully this helps me keep better track of my budget and break down what my biggest expenses have been.
I realized after making this spreadsheet that I didn’t put super specific names for each item, meaning I won’t be able to buy the same part again from this list. Which means there are probably edits to this sheet coming in the future. Ideally, if I decide to build a whole new van ten years from now, I’d be able to open this sheet and find the exact sealant I used so I could buy it again.
