The van came with shelves, a wall, and a ridiculous amount of grease in the cargo area. Before I could build anything, I had to clean. Taking the shelves and wall out was pretty trivial. 15 minutes with a socket wrench, and I was all set. Cleaning was not as trivial. I have not figured out what about solar installation requires so much grease, but the whole cargo area was just slimy. I spent the better part of a day scrubbing the floor and walls down with a brush, rags, dish soap, and water.
The process was surprisingly rewarding. It was a good way to get things moving in the right direction without having to think too hard or make any permanent decisions. By the end of the day, I had a clean cargo area ready for building.
